The best (and worst) races to earn money
According to the Survey of Labor Insertion of University Graduates in 2019, the best fields of study to make money before 30 were the following:
Medicine , with an average annual salary of €34.291 per year, followed by Nautical and maritime transport with 33.9777, Aeronautical Engineering with 30,454, Industrial Organization Engineering with 30,052, Software and Application Development with 29,794, Industrial Technology Engineering with 29,458, Computer Engineering with 29,295, Telecommunications Engineering with 28,737, Electronic Engineering with 28,471, and Naval and Ocean Engineering with 28,256.
And the worst? Well, according to that same study, they are Occupational therapy with a salary of €17,584/year, Geography and land use planning with 17,353, Human nutrition and dietetics with 17,097, History of art with 16,708, Conservation and restoration with 15,851, Fine arts with 15,753, Physiotherapy with 15,436, Dentistry with 14,795, Speech Therapy with 14,467 and the lowest paid of all Podiatry with €12,935 per year, bordering on the minimum wage.
And what about the Economics and Business careers that we have already talked about? They are probably not the best for earning money, Financial and actuarial science remains the best paid branch, with €28,245/year, Marketing remains at 23,906, Economics at 23,835, Administration and business at 23,551, Finance and accounting with 20,366 and Management and public administration with 19,034 are the lowest paid.
That is to say, as a general rule we could say that if we want to have a good salary, the best is medicine or, alternatively, engineering and sciences such as mathematics and physics, but also that the worst options are humanities and socio-health services. But clearly if you want to get rich, the branches of economics and business do not seem the best places to start our university studies (another thing would be to talk about postgraduate degrees). But it is not the only thing to take into account.
According to several studies , university students with the best job placement tend to have these several traits in common:
- They study qualifications that prepare for highly demanded professions.
- They are trained in universities with highly qualified teaching staff.
- They acquire transversal skills and abilities and study abroad.
- They study at universities located in dynamic economic areas (where we live is quite important in determining our income, social mobility and job placement). , but esp can be solved by changing the region.
- They receive support from social networks, family members and their home universities.
There are two aspects to consider when checking, the first is that many times the studies do not have much to do with the field in which they end up working. Many people end up having a different study than the field in which they have studied. The second is that we all have a series of abilities and deficiencies with us , we will gain more in those fields in which our capacities are better valued and our weaknesses are irrelevant. That is much more important, if we are not good at a subject, it is better that we do not dedicate ourselves to it even if it interests us.
